Workspace provider IWG is preparing to launch six new co-working branches across Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Rayong, and Nonthaburi within the next six months. Half of the new sites will repurpose underused retail space in malls.
Country manager Thitiwat Thanapornnithinan noted that these spaces bring more foot traffic and revenue opportunities to retail properties. He said landlords can transform vacant areas into workspaces with relatively low investment and reach profitability in about two years.
Three branches will be located inside malls. These include a 705-square-metre site at Star IT Center in Rayong’s Mueang district, set to open in December under the Regus name. A 900-square-metre location at Century The Movie Plaza near Victory Monument and a 644-square-metre branch at Bukis Phuket in Mueang district are also planned.
The Bangkok site will use the HQ brand, while the Phuket branch will operate under Regus. Both will begin operations in January 2026.
Co-working spaces are also being introduced in the hospitality sector. On Tuesday, a 1,489-square-metre Regus facility opened inside Brighton Grand Hotel Pattaya. The space supports the hotel’s efforts to grow its meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions services.
IWG CEO Marc Descrozaille said companies increasingly need temporary workspaces outside their main offices due to flexible work arrangements. He gave an example of Bangkok-based firms assigning teams to projects in Phuket for six months and using co-working spaces without committing to long leases.
According to Descrozaille, these flexible setups help firms adjust space usage according to project timelines. He pointed out that industries like construction and retail often operate regionally and benefit from short-term space access.
The other new sites include a 1,470-square-metre office at Pearl Bangkok in Ari, a 619-square-metre facility at Central Chaengwattana Office Tower in Nonthaburi, and a cluster of seven shophouses in Phuket covering 1,340 square metres.
